DDW Games

Who we are

We are a small company based in Miami, Manitoba, which is in Canada. We have been making Flash animations and games since 1997, for companies including FoxSports, Lucent and Macromedia, as well as for online sites such as the Romp, Honkworm, Telephone Doctor and Respondus. We have also worked extensively with the swf and .Net file formats, creating a .net to swf converter (graphics and IL, this eventually became the Xamlon tool), as well as various parsers/converters for graphic formats. Currently we are looking into creating games for the Xbox using the XNA framework.

What is here?

Not much so far, though we have put up a few experiments we've been using to look closer at XNA. Here are some links (source is available in the downloads):

Playing In Traffic Download (including source) Playing In Traffic
A very rough 2D game that teaches children how to play on busy highways safely. There is plenty of cleanup to go, but the gist is there. This is based on the Flash animation here, which we will eventually add to the game (we are building an swf to XNA converter).
3D Demo (including source) SpaceGame
Just a test to check out importing 3D models and animating them.

What next?

We will continue to update this page with games and experiments, maybe even explanations : ). We are continuing to make Flash based content, and are interested in making small fun animated games for XNA. These will initially be for end user consumption, however there is also a lot of demand for games-as-advertisements-that-don't-make-you-want-to-puke. We anticipate this market both expanding and getting a better name.

We are also building tools, starting with a swf to XNA animation converter. As well as the swf parser, we have a C# parser ready as well, so hopefully lots of neat things will come of these.
